This is only a little less confusing than iPad Help. This is not deleting a series. It is deleting one item from one series. I can't see the "series" dots on my chart.
I have a stacked column chart with columns as series. Each series has five data. I have two series (five stacks, each with two colors). I accidentally created a third, blank series by taping a blank cell while the chart was highlighted. Now I cannot delete that extra series. When I double tap the chart, I see each series. I see their sizing handles. But I do not see the "series dots", nor do I see the "dark handle" that iPad Help page references. Whenever I tap anything, I create a new series. I can only get out of that situation with Undo.
This is probably not the forum to discuss my frustration.
@Jim- Sorry for your frustration. In a recent update Apple made this a lot easier. I have updated the lesson to reflect the changes.
