How do I set up Gmail on my iPad to send from a non-Gmail address?

This lesson will show you how to set up Mail on your iPad with Gmail. This instructions are specifically geared towards people who want the emails they send to come from an address other than their Gmail address or who want to access Gmail using POP rather than IMAP.

If you want to set up an IMAP Gmail account and want emails to come from your Gmail address then follow these instructions.

From your home screen, open the Settings application.

Add Account

Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars (1) then tap on Add Account... (2).

Tap on "Other"

Tap on Other. DO NOT tap on Gmail.

Provide New Account Information

When entering your information you do not need to provide your actual Gmail address, just your Gmail password. Enter the email address that you would like your emails to be from. In this example I've entered my company's support email address (1).

Tap on Save when you are done (2).

Enter Account Information

This is the screen where you enter your Gmail address. Fill in the Incoming Mail Server (1) and Outgoing Mail Server (3).

When you are done tap on Save (3).

The Result

Your account will now be available in Mail.
